"When I think
about the past [six] months of the PureMen study, the
thing that has made the most impression on me is the
number of verses in the Bible that deal with subjects
like temptation, lust, and also strength and
purity. The Bible verses that Steve chose to give
us as weekly memory verses were excellent. I was
truly encouraged and compelled to start referring to
them and applying them every day. The more I read
over them, the more aware the Lord makes me in using
them when a situation occurs that will result in either
a good or bad decision. When I think of all the
ways the Lord warns us through His Word, such as: to be
sober and vigilant; to set no wicked thing before our
eyes; to resist the devil; to not be conformed to this
world; you realize how serious the battle is between
good and evil. But the Lord also encourages us
through His Word when He says He will with the
temptation also make a way to escape; and how He is able
to make all grace abound towards you; or when we draw
nigh to God, He will draw nigh to us. It makes me
wonder how I can still sin against such a loving and
holy God, but I still often do. This is why the
PureMen study has been so helpful to me. It also
helped me to realize that Satan knows my weaknesses and
is always looking for a way to trip me up. But
God's Word is powerful and sharper than any two edged
sword, and if I purpose to use it and meditate on it,
He'll provide a victory!"

“PureMen has overwhelmingly a very positive
message. The message that we really try to get
across over the course of this study is that we can
live victoriously over sin in the midst of this dark
and perverse world. We do not have to be a slave
to our sin or in bondage to it. God's Word says
that we've been set free from it. We can live
victoriously in the midst of a very impure world."
"The second
thing is that no matter what your issue may be - drugs,
alcohol, sexual impurity, materialism, selfishness,
pride - you can get victory over any of those
things! And the answer is simply Jesus Christ!
You don't need a 12-step program - although some may
have benefited from something like that as a tool - but
that will not fix your problem. The only answer
- - the only solution is Jesus Christ! Only
Jesus can change a life from the inside out. He
can transform a man into a new creature! That is
the message of PureMen!"

and that we have control over everything in our

“An Article in Cleveland Plain Dealer on September 6th caught my eye earlier this month. It was about the annual Promise Keepers convention.
The article said, “More than 3000 Christian men gathered in downtown Cleveland on Saturday to talk straight with one another about their
vices and pledge to be better fathers, husbands, and people… After a worship service at which a band played, attendees who participated in a
text message questionnaire were asked what their most difficult challenge was. More than 80% of the text messages said it was viewing pornography.
When those with the problem were asked to come to the stage and pray, hundreds responded.” In the word of James,
“My brethren, these things ought not so to be.” (James 3:10)”
“So What is God’s standard on this subject? Ephesians 5:3 makes it very clear - “But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness,
let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints.” God’s standard is clear – this should not be part of the Christian’s life!”
“So then why are so many men struggling with this today? I believe the answer lies in a life that is either being walked in
(or controlled by) the flesh instead of a life that is walked in (or controlled) by the Spirit. Galatians 5:16 says “This is say then,
Walk in the Spirit and ye shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.”
Last year, we offered our first PureMen’s class – Discipling Men to Have a Passion for Purity. We are preparing to launch another PureMen’s
study this November. Now, while I’ve used the backdrop of “sexual purity” even in my descriptions here this morning, this study goes much
deeper than this topic. PureMen is NOT JUST FOR MEN who struggle with things like pornography. This study is designed to help men find Jesus!
And once men have found Jesus as the ONLY ANSWER to life’s problems, they are taught how to live a life that is free from addictions and sin’s
bondage and is honoring and glorifying to our Saviour.”

And it is a class that is needed, both within the church and within the community.”
“I was hesitant about participating in this class because I knew that I didn’t have an issue with pornography but I determined to give it a try.
In the first few weeks I definitely knew that it wasn’t for me! But Bro. Steve reassured us that if we could just hang in there for the first week or
two that we would begin to see the benefits of the study – and sure enough he was right.”
